His eyesight is also much better, meaning he does not rely on eyeglasses for his day to day vision; however, instead of his being nearsighted, James is farsighted as an elf instead, so he does keep a pair of spectacles for reading up close. He is still thin and agile, if perhaps a bit more sharper-framed.

James is still a wizard in Usir, with some slight changes to his magical abilities. Most of his spells fall into the realm of arcane magic, allowing him to produce abilities similar to those available to him in canon—much of which are simple spells that allow him to maneuver through his day to day life (summoning objects he can see within a room to his hand, creating light, unlocking doors, cleaning surfaces, etc.; or useless things for fun, such as charming inanimate objects to tap dance or transfiguring a piece of wood into a toy). However, James is also capable of more in depth magic like magical maps, shields, and explosion charms as well.

He is not capable of turning into a stag in Usir, as James is not a shiftling, though he is interested in shape-shifting and transformation magics in particular. Because of this, James has his own curiosities in the realm of alchemical magic in addition to arcane.

James prefers to channel his magic through incantations and a wand in Usir. He feels it helps him have more precision and control over his magic. He is capable of wandless spells, but he tries to keep things minor.
⤛ Skills: James has excellent reflexes both for sport and for combat—though he’s mostly untrained with the use of physical weapons, preferring to rely on his magic.
⤛ Personality:

+ Loyal. Remus describes James as someone who would have “regarded it as the height of dishonor to mistrust his friends.” James prizes trust faith in friendship, and he upheld those ideals even as a boy, when he discovered the truth of his friend’s identity. He died for his family, and he would have died for his friends, too; he can hardly comprehend that someone might betray him in turn.
+ Clever. James is clever enough to master very advanced, very complicated magic at a young age. A gifted schoolboy who was often top of his classes without putting in exceptional amounts of work, he was capable of inventing his own spells and magical items. James catches quickly onto difficult concepts thinks quickly enough to see beyond what’s right in front of him.
+ Just. Despite being a bit of a spoiled brat, James has had a very strong sense of justice even from his childhood. He questions long-held prejudices and chooses to judge people by their actions first, not what they are nor where they’re from. Even if things do not affect him directly, he believes in fighting for people in need, and he is strongly against cold-blooded murder.
+ Brave. James did not hesitate to face his killers alone and unarmed even knowing he would probably die; he knew the best he could do was buy time for his wife and son to escape. Nor does he hesitate to jump into dangerous situations nor dangerous company. In fact, he almost relishes in the thrill of it.
+ Generous. James is more than willing to support friends when they’re in need. He helps Remus financially and allows Sirius to move in with him after running away. He was raised a bit spoiled, but he is aware of his own wealth (of many kinds) and is not inherently selfish. He’s quick to lend what he has to help others.

- Arrogant. James is more than just a bit of a show-off: he likes attention, and he likes praise. He’s talented and clever, and there isn’t a doubtful bone in his body on the subject. He doesn’t hesitate to talk about his own accomplishments and creates opportunities to show off and receive applause.
- Resentful. James can be quick to hold a grudge, and as a child and a teenager, this made him blind and almost cruel. He’s no longer the bully he once was, but his grudges continue last and hold firm.
- Rebellious. Not the biggest fan of rules nor authority, James is not one for toeing the line nor sticking to convention. He butts heads with authority figures often.
- Mischievous. There’s fun in making trouble, after all. In flaunting authority, James and his friends get their kicks going out of their way to play pranks, to break rules, and to cause general mayhem.
- Stubborn. When James makes decisions, he’s not easily swayed. James sticks to his beliefs whether positive (trust in his friends) or negative (bullying Snape) and may become even less likely to change his mind the more someone argues with him.

⤛ Key History Events:

- James comes from a long line of kingdom elves who specialize in academic professions: wizards, alchemists, apothecarists, educators. His father, Fleamont, was well known and praised for his healing potions. As kingdom elves of Krimnos, the family was proud of their contributions to a safe and welcoming kingdom along with their proclivity for magical talents. Fleamont and Euphemia (James’ mother) had struggled to have a child and were surprised when they finally conceived James relatively late in life; as a result, James was raised as a rather spoiled and doted-upon only child, and he also attended school to learn among other young talents in the city.
- As the war was gaining steam during James’ later years at school, he eventually chose to dedicate himself to the defense of his kingdom and the people he loved—and to try to find a way to put an end to the war. James passionately contributed all he could to the war efforts in fighting off invasions and raids, but he was also firmly against invasion into other kingdoms’ territories, which earned him enemies on all sides.
- James married before he was even twenty years old, and he and his wife had a son not long after their marriage.
- In the early years of the Last Great War, James’ and his family’s whereabouts were betrayed to enemy invaders, and they were attacked in their own home. James did what he could to buy his wife and son time to escape, but he was overwhelmed and killed.
